I'm juggling my free time right now between these 3 video games.

I'm unsure when I'll return to Re: CoM, dislike the cards.

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (PS4)
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix (PS4)
Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty (PS4)

The Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney collection.

Done the first case which is ridiculously easy and am at the halfway point through the second case Turnabout Sisters.

Really enjoying it so far. The cast is quite charming and funny. I can see why everyone likes Edgeworth. Though he was clearly tampering with evidence and information to fit the narrative and that's just wild that nobody bats an eyelid.

And man they really had to kill off Mia. She had a neat design and seemed like a cool boss... But then I guess the game woulda been Mia Fey Ace Attorney instead... STILL.

Looking forward to playing more!

@Yousef- Sorry, I just realized I didn’t respond to the comment regarding FPS and their golden age/dark age.

Yes, I’ve skipped nearly all military shooter based FPS and even most of the third person shooters that are based around military campaigns. Thankfully for me I don’t particularly gravitate toward modern era military shooters. Still, the vilification and demonization of various cultures, religions, sects, ethnicities, civilizations, etc. is present certainly in many other gaming genres too, but especially in FPS. I can only experience things through the viewpoint of my upbringing in the U.S., but it’s not hard to see how one might feel uncomfortable with the portrayal of certain cultures through Western eyes. When things happen the other direction and depictions of Western peoples and cultures occurs in broad prejudiced strokes it can be a turn-off for me too. But I think most people have realistic and rational expectations about the fictional representation of media, but I have no doubt that many people take things literally about what’s presented. Although there’s value in seeing a diverse interpretation of culture and events, sometimes it’s clear that a viewpoint is solely grounded in hatred or intolerance.

Either way, I’ve found my enjoyment of FPS mostly occurs in the fantasy realm - Titanfall, Doom, Borderlands, SW Battlefront, BioShock, and most recently Immortals of Aveum, etc. So Serious Sam might be one to keep in mind when the urge hits. I also have been meaning to try the Wolfenstein games, but I’m a little concerned about the reported difficulty, since I’m not very proficient in the FPS genre. Another on my radar is the Metro games. And they aren’t FPS per se, but I’m planning to play the new RE games eventually, which are survival horror shooters taking place in first person, so there’s that. 😄

I've played all the main Uncharted games at launch on their respective platforms, but I've been having fun working my way through The Nathan Drake Collection off and on in between other games.

Uncharted 1 is a fun rough draft. Just finished replaying Uncharted 2 and it is still so incredibly good, right behind Uncharted 4 for me as my fave.

Uncharted 3 is my least favorite replay. It has a lot of great character interactions (I love Cutter so much) and combat enhancements, but the way Nate feels is so bizarre. His legs flop around weirdly on the terrain as you run and he tries to touch every surface he gets even slightly close to, so he kind of looks like a photo-real Sackboy in motion. It's haunting.

My memory is that this is one of the earliest games that was trying to do the whole "this character reacts to the world around them with animations" thing and the tech just wasn't there yet. Ambitious though!

@BuddhaBabboo You’re doing exactly what I’ve been planning. I only made it through UC1 so far and I had hoped to do UC2 at some point this year but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Eventually though. I’m looking forward to it because I only have played each entry once.

Are you going to play the Legacy of Thieves PS5 Remakes too?

BuddhaBabboo

@Th3solution Oh nice! I'll probably play the PS5 version of Lost Legacy, since I only played that game once. I've replayed Uncharted 4 four or five times, so not too sure I'm up for a replay of it right now. Great games!

Making my way through Final Fantasy X, this game actually have a special place in my life because it was the first ever game I completed all by my self from start to finish, it probably is the game that started my interest in gaming becoming a life habit rather than just a through away hobby.

Even though FF VII and FF IX are my favourite it really does have a very romantic feel to me and playing it again for the first time since I was about 13/14 I can't help but feel the magic again.

Corny as hell I know but who cares! 😅

@MaulTsir That's awesome! We all have games like that near and dear to us.

Is it holding up as you remembered it thus far?

Absolutely loving Far Cry 5. Incredibly well designed game, great characters and a brilliant map. Genuinely, if this wasn’t made by Ubisoft then it would be regarded as an all timer. Plus it was seriously cool hearing The King Khan and BBQ Show on the ingame radio, have that album on vinyl and it’s probably one of the lesser known ones in my collection.

@HallowMoonshadow Oh man, if you love those silly early cases, the actually good ones are gonna blow your mind.

Fantastic series. Happy to see you finally getting into it!

@Gunnerzaurus It really does hold up, I mean it's the remake but still it's an 11 year old remake of a 23 year old game but yeah graphics where really ground breaking for it's time, I remember being in awe of how real they looked when I was younger.

Strangely I'm not one who's to fond of replaying things from a nostalgic era because I tend to think it ruins the initial feeling you originally had. I had a situation with FF VII where when I played it in my 20's on the ps4 it really didn't hit the same as it did in my mind. Characters weren't as good as I remembered and dialogue was no where near delivered how I believed in my mind but I absolutely loved the remake and how fleshed out the characters became and can't wait to play rebirth.

But with x because I was older when I played it, I feel like everything is almost how I remembered it which is good.

The game holds up, the turn based combat is great apart from the overdrive's I was terrible at them as a 12/13 year old and I'm still terrible at them now, so yeah the game is how I remember it 🤣

I've "beat" the first game now @Ralizah.

As in the first 4 cases. I got partway through the 5th case and... My god It's such a slog. It's mind numbingly uninteresting and just a rehash of the 4th case just padded out to oblivion.

Honestly it really sucked all the wind out my sails to carry on with the next game for the time being.

Yousef-

@HallowMoonshadow that’s a good enough stopping point (for the first game, I mean. It’s fair to come back to the fifth case later because it was written after the trilogy)
Also idk how I missed you were playing the ace attorney trilogy. I’ll write something a bit longer later on. Have fun!!

Ralizah

@HallowMoonshadow Aww. I love the fifth case. It is rather long, but also one of the most complete mysteries in the entire series. I do believe it is the longest case in the first trilogy.

But if you're really not enjoying it, it doesn't have much of an impact on anything else in the series other than introducing Ema Skye.

If I recall you're a pretty big fan of Gravity Rush @Ralizah so I just thought I'd ping you to tell you I'm playing Gravity Rush remastered and enjoying it quite a bit.

I have some minor quibbles about the mechanics (Statis suuuuuuuuuucks) and the plot... Is kinda all over the place?

But Kat's adorable and shifting gravity & traversal is really quite fun!

@HallowMoonshadow actually, I believe the BIG GR fan might’ve been me 😆
Not that Ralizah can’t be one
Happy you’re liking it!
Someone else is finally wise to Kat’s cuteness.
Very small warning from now though, don’t get too invested in the plot. If you have a question, it likely doesn’t have an answer. Just enjoy the scenery and unique imagery, this game is insanely unique with its atmosphere and visuals. Very little are quite like it.

@HallowMoonshadow Oh, totally, it's janky. Weirdly, though, that adds to the game's charm for me. Kat's powers have never felt like they should be smoothly executable. Her superpower is literally just shifting gravity around herself, after all, so she's awkwardly falling everywhere as opposed to flying.

The plot is more there as a compliment to the atmosphere than anything.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! It's also a pretty easy plat. Stasis sucks, yeah, along with any challenge where you have to carry people places.

@HallowMoonshadow @Yousef- @Ralizah I was a fan of GR as well, although I never completed GR2. Maybe one of these days I’ll go back. It’s been several years so I’d probably have to start over.

GR2 went all in with the open world and it’s quite amazing what it accomplished. I don’t know if I have played another game that has as large and unobstructed a world as GR2. The complete three-dimensionality of the open travel is very impressive. Unfortunately, it makes the game overwhelming and in the end the verticality and depth of the layered areas sapped some of the sense of progression for me and I drifted away from it (ba-dum-tshh… 🥁).
