Star Wars Outlaws has been out for just over a week now, and we want to know what you think of it. The latest Ubisoft-published open world adventure, Outlaws was drumming up a lot of hype ahead of its release, but the excitement seems to have cooled off quite a bit now that the game's actually here.
Whether that's down to rather lukewarm reviews or just a general fatigue regarding open world design — or even Star Wars itself! — we don't know. But what we do know is that our own Star Wars Outlaws PS5 review ends with a 'not bad' but definitely disappointing 6/10.
"Star Wars Outlaws gets by with a refreshed approach to the Ubisoft open world blueprints, fun traversal, and the themes and setting of a galaxy nobody could hope to replicate — but only just," we wrote. "So many of its core pillars, from the lacklustre reputation system to the basic combat and stealth mechanics, feel incredibly surface-level."
And so we have to ask: what review score would you give Star Wars Outlaws? Rate it for yourself in our poll, and then explain your stance in the comments section below.

A 7. It’s a “good game”. And that’s coming from someone who’s playing it and enjoying. I made my decision from actually playing it.
I gave it an 8 so far. I really only played 6 hours but 3 of that was sabacc
I'm not going to play it for a while, so no rating from me. I am playing AC Origins, and if I stick with it I probably won't want to play a new Ubisoft open world game for a while.
An easy 8 , it's a great game and I dont understand the hate , if your a fan of star wars it's a must buy , push square and their 6 is quite frankly ridiculous, lots to see and do , the graphics are great , characters are good , some fantastic side quests , I personally think the stealth is really good , upgrade your character and have a bit of patience , you can even bypass certain sections if your reputation is high enough , seems to me all the hate comes from people who haven't actually played it ,or are rubbish at stealth games.
I would hazard a bet that the 2's and 3's are mostly people who haven't played it and just find it fun to hate but I could be wrong.
@MisterWhen I'd wager you're correct ,people just think it's hip and cool to hate on all things star wars at the moment
PushSquare review was a '6'?
Sister site PureXbox gave it an '8'.
That's quite a difference, for 'official' reviews at any rate.
Had to laugh at people saying Ubi bought the IGN review when it got a 7. Yeah, they’re buying mediocre feedback.
Poor framerate, low visual fidelity, all to include ray tracing in all modes.
6 - Not bad. The universe is amazing, the environments are great, music and sound design too. On the other hand, gameplay is too simplistic for me, and most of humanoid characters look like crap. Finally, there is a lack of polish (bugs, quests i can't finish...) that should not happen in a $70 AAA game. I'll give a decent 7 if they fix these bugs.
I really like the game and enjoy playing it on my PS5 😎
After 9 hours I'd give it a 7/10 so far. It's fun but the stealth is a bit basic and there's a few crashes here and there.
43 hours played and so far I'd give it a solid 8. It's a joy for those who like to just wander off and explore, looking for loot or following up on quest hints. Some of the maps are well designed and the atmosphere is spot on at times. I also really like Kay and her forming bond with ND-5.
Removed - disrespecting others
Easy 8. There is so much systems at play here ; stealth, gunplay, space combat, etc… the list is very long, it’s a very ambitious project that does everything good enough in a Star Wars setting they nailed perfectly.
The expectations are too high for a game that offers that much. I feel it’s being treated like Days Gone a few years ago.
I would give it an 8 overall, 9 for the atmosphere, lore and world. They really did their homework and nailed it. The landscapes are great, but I love how lively their cities feel. Kind of a Star Wars Cyberpunk. Overheard a storm trooper conversation about Scarif battle from Rogue One. That was cool. Feel they nailed the Imperial bases too. Good exploring, really like the heist missions, can't wait for the big one at the end. And I actually think the characters are very good and fit in SW universe. Yes, would have loved the ability to steal/use multiple vehicles GTA-style, carry more weapons permanently, but gotten used to it. Not sure why there is so much outcry on the enemy AI (on other sites). They are stupid pretty much like any game. I also really like the reputation piece as it adds a layer of uniqueness in how you need to do certain missions. And the hoverbike is great...and even the space battles are not bad. Again, overall an 8, maybe a 9 by the end, and really enjoying it. And pretty cool they have the blaster mark from Han Solo in the cantina, in the correct spot.
It is a good 7.5-8 all things considered, so far, maybe higher if you are a proper Star Wars mega fan, or when i've finished it I might change my mind amd rescore it. I'm two planets down, and i'm saving Tatooine for the main event after going to the next. Easily plenty of fun to be had, the detail and star wars easter eggs are enough to keep anyone full for days, and the jank is part of that 😛 Star Wars is supposed to be janky and weird.
I think some of the issues with reviewers and people , are when they try to rush through the game, it is not a game to rush through, you have to go and find your way yourself in a proper RPG fashion. It is surprisingly similar in design to a proper RPG, though lacking some of those elements as it's an action stealth game. For anyone who loves a good quest log and to think about what they want to tackle next, rather than try to mainline it, it's a blast. You'd be crazy rushing from A to B, you'd miss out on so much and definitely regret it
I gave it a 7 but the last segment of the game is fantastic, so good that if the whole game was like that then it could've easily been a 9.
I don't have to give it a score.
This isn't a game I'm playing.
I can go about my business.
I'll move along.
From what I've played it's decent but flawed. Its a lot of fun when it's good but can be frustrating at times.
Id go with 7 which in my scale means very good.
@GeeForce
You are right. This is actually a scandal. They can't act like it is two different scales. Nor should you act like a game can be experienced this differently, because then grades don't matter and that would mean their CORE PRODUCT is a lie.
You need to fix this Poorxbox.com and pushsquaresaround.com - or be destroyed. You have an hour.
In the first hours I’d have said around an 8 but after finishing it and doing most side quests it’s a 7/10 for me, story falls apart, everything becomes too superficial but I still had around 20 hours of fun.
@VenomUK You think that one user joining a gaming site to defend a Star Wars game is part of a larger conspiracy? I mean, let’s be reasonable here, who’s funding this? Why wouldn’t they target a larger site like IGN or Eurogamer? Why would they only create one account for this purpose? Who’s handing out the orders? Occam’s Razor, it’s one person who liked the game, lurks a bit and felt that the game was getting a bad rap and so created an account to defend it.
I think its a solid 3.
Star wars without lightsabers.
Boring ubisoft openworld.
Broken, halfassed stealth mechanics in a stealth game.
Yea 3.
I’ve got it and now I’m more into it I think it is extremely repetitive and a little bit boring. Also the difficulty really varies, loads of bugs too. It doesn’t even feel like Star Wars. Could be any game
I really like it, had to restart a massive section but it's good fun nothing wrong with it
The general sentiment in the community seems to be a smidge more positive than the reviews.
I'll hold off for now because there is so much to play right now but I do think I'll play it eventually.
I cannot believe that people who played it, gave a low rating. The game is too good for anything below 7
@nessisonett Ubi did 9/11
@VenomUK so what , the games great , doesn't really matter when I joined now does it , I find it weird that you checked, like it's gonna make my opinion less valid 😂😂
@species the stealth isnt broken , they just find it too difficult ,anyone who hasn't played it,shouldn't really have an opinion
@nessisonett pretty much spot on, people are weird 😁
@Ravix couldn't agree more , as a star wars fan myself, I watched at the cinema in the 70s and been a fan ever since , it's like a dream come true , my two favourite things come together in a massive world I can fully explore, I think the games been treated unfairly by some , if you look at the game as a whole package it's fantastic , we can all nit pick games , vampire saviours seems quite popular at the minute , which I could say I was playing similar games when I watched star wars decades ago, but i won't 😁
I'd give it an 8. It's exactly what I expected and that's a good thing. Not sure about all the hate on the stealth, I think it's easy enough to pick up but challenging enough to need some strategy.
The atmosphere and setting are spot on and nail the nostalgia of the movies perfectly! You can feel a genuine love of the source material in some of the background conversations and city designs!
25 hours in so far and looking forward to the story developing further!
Great game tense moments exciting gameplay, overall a great adventure
It doesn’t do anything wildly innovative, many of the systems in place are pretty basic and there’s sone dated ideas at play. BUT it’s also a lot of fun, been playing for about 10 hours and no technical issue, and it’s only getting more fun the more I play.
A solid 7/10 from me, I don’t regret the purchase at all.
@GeeForce Daddy IGN gave it 7/10 lol.
6, 7 and 8 all from the same family. I'm not getting at anyone involved, i'm just saying that it does go to show just how arbitrary review scores actually are.
8/10. Flawed but super fun. And it has the best Star Wars atmosphere of any game I have played. And I am old and have played a LOT of them.
Honestly, all the people I talked to who actually played it liked it. Some people even loved it.
It's just hated because it's an Ubisoft game and the people like to hate on them regardless of the quality of the game.
I finished it without problem with only one bug in all my campaign.
@RPGFanMatt I just hope all the negativity doesn't stop a sequel , I personally can't wait for the dlc , and all the crap towards the main character is nonsense , I mean her hair do is a bit pat sharp, but other than that she's fine
For my part I loved the game and am enjoying it
Finished the game and gave it an 8. It’s a really good game, but is lacking all the polish to make it to a 9, and it is lacking something special in terms of characters and story for a 10.
But as a Star Wars fan, this is the best game to get immersed into a Star Wars universe.
I've put about 10 hours into it and id give it a 6. 5 being average because I'm not IGN. It's ok but it's not something people MUST play
It would be more but for the insta-fail stealth bits.
@Anke see, I actually think insta-fail stealth makes sense. Just in general. Like, if you’re sneaking into a government facility, you’re not gonna get caught, mow down a few sodilers after the alarms sounded, then they’ll stop looking for you after a few minutes. You should have to make it clearly through without being seen or caught. But that’s just me… 🤷🏾♂️
Haven’t played too much yet, but there’s definitely some truly magical moments, but the stealth missions are some of the worst I’ve played in a long time. Like old school assassins creed, and it just sucks all the joy out of it
I’m hovering between 8-9 after around 18 hours played. I love the balance of exploration, combat and stealth. Love all the Star Wars lore, and have just met a certain character from the movies. Music is great, as is the lighting. I like the way you unlock abilities through “the experts”. Planets/maps are a mixed bag so far. Toshara I liked, Kijimi was a bit boring. Have just arrived on Akiva, so too early to give an opinion. Haven’t been to Tatooine yet as I’m saving it - will recognise lots from the films so am looking forward to that. There’s loads to do in this game outside of the main quests and I’m in no rush to finish it 🙂
Gave it an 8. I've played around 20 hours so far and, aside from the questionable stealth gameplay, am enjoying it more than the Jedi games
I agree with a 6. It’s a solid enough game but just doesn’t feel as polished as you’d expect from a game, especially of such ridiculous pricing. It’s not unplayable like some are claiming but the stealth isn’t great and borders on frustrating where it should be exciting, the AI is, without a doubt, abysmal and the combat is lacking where it should be fast, punchy and adrenaline producing. The open world aspect is promising but the worlds feel empty compared to similar games with the speeder driving decent enough but the terrain leads to too many crashes thus negating the rush of speed.
So yes, Star Wars fans may forgive some of this (I regard myself a childhood fan who has drifted somewhat since the prequels, hated the new films and is indifferent to the endless TV shows, spin offs and kitchen sink approach) but it never wows and is too often frustrating and just lacking that truly addictive quality.
But hey, that’s just my opinion and I know others will agree/disagree so feel free providing you don’t criticise me based on an opinion …
@MathiasBS what issues do you have with the stealth ? I use nix a lot and levelling up abilities does help , it can be hard at the beginning, distract with nix, lure with whistle? Attack with nix then smash em, also dropping objects helps , also setting traps on alarms first helps a lot
6 is a bit harsh imo. Easy 7
@SAMTYLER1974 ridiculous pricing ? It was 56 on amazon at launch if you get it digitally shop to had a 70 for 54 psn card , the stealth is great i feel and better than most games , if your rep is high enough you can cut out a lot of it , there are a lot of abilitys that help with it also ,I don't agree with the terrain either , most can be jumped over as long as you have the jump ability installed, and have upgraded your speeder enough it handles really well, the ai I have to agree with but in most open world games the ai is garbage, elden ring for example they just rush you that's all they do , and when you get a certain distance they walk away.
@Nightcrawler71 oh your gonna love tatooine 😁
@AhmadSumadi 😂. I technically agree. But, a video game has to be fun and other than splinter cell is not really an infiltration simulator. Insta fails just aren't fun to play even if there accurate.
@GeeForce I just don't think Liam likes star wars , or stealth games to be fair and its his opinion , it's wrong, but his opinion 😂
@NEStalgia I didn't find elden ring fun but people love that , one hit kills are not fun ,the stealth in this is a lot easier if you level up your rep and get some abilities under your belt also use the environment and nix ,it's not that hard
@Shalooda I'm sorry, but as someone whose favourite genre is stealth, Outlaws stealth is nowhere near "great" or "better than most". Outlaws stealth involves crouching behind boxes then moving to the next box when nobody is looking. It's barebones AT BEST. The last time I played Outlaws was about 2 days after release because I sat in a single bush and whistled for someone to come over, then do a takedown. I repeated this same tactic SIX more times without moving from the same spot in the bush and not one of the enemies showed any sort of intelligence. Good stealth mechanics require good AI, which Outlaws does not have. At all.
@SASnake I get what you mean, and I don't think the stealth is great in the game, nor does it really have to be, as most of the game is not insta fail stealth like some people seem to think. It's usually stealth for a bit, checkpoint, stealth a bit more, checkpoint. Have a big fight with loads of blasters and explosions like it's Star Wars and escape.
Butttttt...
If you love stealth gameplay why the hell are you sitting in one bush and doing that, it is you that is choosing to do that, not the game 😂😂😂
@Ravix Sure it's my choice to be in that bush, but it should be up to the game to counter my doing that. Thats the difference between games that do stealth right, and games that don't. Outlaws stealth is soo basic that the AI intelligence is nowhere to be seen.
@SASnake yep, and the remedy when the game doesn't 'do it right', as you see it, is to make it worse for yourself? 😅
Maybe don't endlessly exploit weaknesses if it makes it less fun for yourself, and then maybe you won't hate playing it so much. Or maybe you will, fair enough. But maybe use a smoke bomb or two, or Nix commands, maybe traps on alarms, time a stun shot on an annoyingly placed guard, and use the tools the game does offer. Maybe set a challenge where you don't camp and take the guards out, but avoid them on the routes the game has for doing that, so you have to plan and time your path wisely.
I dunno, it seems you are cutting off your nose to spite your face.
And if you still don't enjoy it, it's fair enough it has its flaws. Just that part of the comment stood out to me as self destructive to your own fun.
@Ravix You seem to be focused on this one particular act of mine, as if this is how I spent my whole time playing the game. It is not. I merely experimented with the bush to see how simple the stealth/AI is in the game. The stealth isn't good, no matter how you approach it. If you have to TRY and make the stealth fun yourself, then thats simply bad game design by the developers. The tools at your disposal should be there because you actually need them and the gameplay should be designed around that. If you have to force yourself to find a need then yeah, bad game design.
@SASnake I'm not arguing and im trying to keep it jovial where possible, that part just stood out to be clearly of your doing 😛 as I have stated the stealth isn't great, but then again, so what, don't actively make it worse? 😅 You don't really have to force yourself to use the tools that are there, just force yourself to not ignore them because "you can just do this instead"
I know you aren't going to change your mind, I'm just hoping you maybe don't fully ruin a playthrough for yourself by focusing on what it doesn't do well, that's all.
But as all stealth in pretty much all games is pretty sh** and illogical to some extent, I would like to know what some games that do it well are, out of discourse and intrigue as you are a lover of stealth games. And again I'm not saying this game does it well, just that there is fun to be had with it.
Huh! what was that noise? 😁
Anyone voting 1 - Abysmal is just a foolish troll. In fact, anyone voting less than five for this game is just a foolish troll.
@Ravix Outlaws is just poor in general. Combat is poor, stealth is poor, animation is poor, story and characters are poor. It plays like a 2001 game in 2024. The idea was there, but the execution is way off.
7.5. Would be 8 if there were checkpoints during required stealth missions. It feels like the game is trying wasting my time for no reason.
@SASnake oh, you thought that before it released anyway to be fair, so why did you then buy it and play it? Just to say it is bad again? 😅😅 oh well, at least Ubi got your money 😛
"6, 7 and 8 all from the same family."
Dunno @LifeGirl. A 6 is just above meh, whereas an 8 is great.
I dunno why pushsquare gives 6, maybe they expect it to be like star wars fallen order type of game or anything, in my opinion this game combination sliced of uncharted and red dead, that should be play slowly enjoy, immersed to the adventure and vistas, its an 8, if it polished enough and given a weight on it it would be 8.5 or 9 (Ai, movement and carry more guns, interactions) but all and all its more than “6”, but opinions are differ based on taste on sumthing
8/10 from me. Has its faults but the open world is great, there's a great attention to detail, Kay is a great lead and Nix is adorable.
Listen if you guys are giving out 6/10 to a game like this, was criminal, its 7.5/8 out of 10.
Cant take the scores seriously when a quite bog standard simple game like Vampire Survives gets given a 9/10. I mean that game deserves a 6 out of 10. Its a fun little game above average.
Star Wars outlaws is a great first attempt at an open world style star wars game without light sabers being the main draw.
Its fun and the graphics at times are top notch.
If they do go down the road of a sequel, it has a huge potential to be a 9/10
I haven't played it, but I have watched many videos of it. I can't understand how it can get a score above a 6 if it's true that choices made regarding faction choice are not meaningful, or the main character is dull with no meaningful ending, or terrible AI very clearly shown in many videos, or dieing when e.g. hitting water rather than just swimming out of it etc. Unless these videos are fake?! I see very clear poor quality in many videos posted.
It’s around a 7 or 8 for me. I really like it, one of my favourite games of the year. I can see it’s not perfect, but it’s a brilliant game. I’m around 10-11 hours in, and fully expect to at least finish the story. I personally like the characters, and the story. Had a couple of minor bugs where I have had to shut the game down and load it up again, but no big deal.
It is a 7.5 for me, I prefer the action heavy Jedi games but this definitely has it's place, I am really loving it and Nix is awesome. The world is great to explore and get lost in, I mean it is only a matter of time before Sabacc gets it's own mobile game.
The game needs a mini map, having to pause to see a map in 2024 is ridiculous! But then again the map in Jedi was also atrocious so maybe it's a Star Wars thing 🤷♂️
@Ravix Gaming is my hobby, I have the money for it and I'm always willing to buy big hitter games despite reviews to make up my own mind. I don't hate Ubisoft, they used to be my favourite publisher back in the day when they released actual Rainbow Six games and good Prince of Persia games (the new one is actually great so it's about time). Maybe I'm just bitter they are keeping Splinter Cell hostage. But Outlaws is one of their duds. Star Wars fan save face because it's good at being Star Wars, but as a videogame, it's poor.
@Shalooda Thats like saying “anyone who wasnt forced to pick cotton, shouldnt have an opinion about slavery”
The stealth system is ridiculously bad, way worse than games from 10 years ago.
I really like the game and i really wonder where all the hate is coming from. Criticism ok, but what’s going on about Outlaws is disappointing- not the game, but the behaviour of many. I feel like the game is full of detail, atmosphere and love for the SW universe. 8/10.
@Mostik I would also like a mini map! I think they were experimenting with making the game more about exploration, and less about following a GPS to your location, but I would really like the option to switch it on.
@NoobSeibot ever since The Last Jedi that’s been the attitude surrounding Star Wars. Anything that gets announced is automatically written off before people even view/play it. You can tell it’s more than just thinking it’s not good when after something gets canceled or reviewed poorly that there’s a collective self-congratulation from the corner of the Internet that invests in bashing the Star Wars media.
I gave it a 5, simply because the horrendous stealth mechanics and its auto-fail mission nonsense.
I haven't played it yet, but ubisoft are the kings of the 7 or 8 out of 10 game. Every game I've played that's been made by them has moments that wowed me, genuine 10 out of 10 moments, but then those games also had boring, uninspiring gameplay sections that brings the overall experience down. Shame really, because the potential is there for something stunning I think
@AhmadSumadi "ever since The Last Jedi that’s been the attitude surrounding Star Wars. Anything that gets announced is automatically written off before people even view/play it."
TLJ is mediocre af. So you can't blame people including SW fans for being skeptical with any SW products that showed or released after TLJ, especially when Rise of the Skywalker turn into a dumpster fire that gave big damage to the franchise.
But i'm pretty sure the initial reaction for SW Jedi Fallen Order was positives, which was shown after TLJ. When the game released in the same year with Rise of the Skywalker, it got positives reaction from critics and SW fans. Hence why it sold really well like 10-20 million copies. The same can be said for the sequel Jedi Survivor.
Also, The Mandalorian, Andor, and i think also Ahsoka got positive reception from critics and SW fans and they came out after TLJ.
Unfortunately Ubisoft can't make a solid SW game like Respawn did.
@species 😂😂 what a ridiculous thing to say , what do you find bad about the stealth , let me guess you haven't played it ,like i said invalid opinion
@SASnake which is what you do in mgs is it not , the stealth in outlaws gives you so many options , you can take out the alarms , steal the officers com units so they can't call for help, trap the alarms, use nix in a multitude of ways , you're using one tactic by whistling, why is that the games fault , you're making it boring for yourself.
@PaperAlien there's ways to stop the auto fail , fake surrender is one , taking away the enemies ability to set off an alarm or call for backup is another , people who complain about it, are just crap at it, your just repeating what you've read, invalid opinion
@BowsersBuddy can you not just check the full map and make a waypoint of where you want to go ? No mini map needed
@Bez87 yeah I didn't understand that 9/10 for vampire survivors either , it's just centipede with power ups , but it's so fresh and new they say , nah it uses mechanics that have been in games since the 80s, I'd give it a 4.
@Shalooda sure and that’s what I do. It’s just one of the things I would personally like, the option to have a mini map showing me where to go. Rather than roughly knowing that I need to go North and that’s it’s 500m away etc, only to find I now have to make my way up a mountain and that I’m on the wrong side. I do get why they chose to go this route, for exploration, but I would just like the option. Sometimes it can be difficult to work out the exact location. If I have time to explore that’s great, but if I’m just trying to get a shorter side mission done, I’d like the extra help that you often get in ubisofts open world games. I’m not one of those people who has a lot of time to game, sometimes 20-30mins here and there. This isn’t really a criticism of the game, as much as a personal preference.
@Kameleonic well the choices do matter with regards to side quests I mean your locked out of certain ones if your rep isn't high enough , do they affect the main story no they do not , anyone can destroy a game if they nit pick certain bugs and glitches and make a video about it.
@Shalooda There's a large difference between criticising and 'destroying' a game. I would give it a 5 or 6 based on many reviews and videos: that's criticism, not destruction. Admitting that faction choices have no meaning (or little) on the main is a deal breaker for me, and further proves a lack of depth. How about hiding in bushes surrounded by enemies? Enemies not flushing out vents knowing you're in there? Enemies unable to shoot below waist height? A small creature able to carry a rifle up a ladder but a human cannot? That's not nit-picking when the list of issues is so apparent. I get the feeling people are promoting its virtues due to having spent a lot of money on it: either party are subjective. I have watched many videos and most point out issues/problems. So again, how could it be greater than a 6/10?
@Shalooda Its extremely shallow and inconsistent.
Sometimes youre hidden by one blade of grass, nobody sees you. Even while youre killing their friends in front of em. Then you get “spotted” by one enemy while performing stealth kill on same enemy = whole level instantly sees you.
Would be fine if you werent forced into stealth so many times, since shooting is kinda okish(5/10).
Overall the game is bad even for Ubi game. 3/10 maximum. Anything above 5 should mean a good game, which this isnt.
Its shallow, broken, boring mess. One of the worst star wars games in recent memory.
Edit- did you jsut make this account yesterday as a burner account to troll discussions? If so, kudos, i took the bait :/
@BowsersBuddy yeah I understand, the markers only give you a general area to explore ,I agree options are always great.
@species just because someone doesn't agree with what you're saying doesn't make them a troll, ill wager I've been frequenting push square for far longer than yourself ,just because you've only just seen me , doesn't mean I've not always been here 😁 I've not experienced any of those things you mentioned , maybe you're just unlucky , I mean elden ring one of highest rated games of all time has issues with enemy /player detection , there's nothing wrong with the stealth in outlaws ,it seems you're experiencing bugs not the actual stealth mechanics.
@Kameleonic but every game known to man can be dissected in this way ,why don't the guards in mgs know the box has just moved from one place to another, why do enemies in elden ring only follow you up to a certain point then go back to there original position, how can I drag a woman through a town in red dead with no consequence, how can I commit random acts of violence in gta, hide near a bin for a few minutes and it's all forgotten about, you want realistic AI in games ? That would be about as fun as a dark souls game, what youre mostly describing are bugs or glitches in the game not the actual mechanics, you ask people these days oh you didn't like a certain game have you played it , they reply no but I've watched a walk-through, same thing 😂 as with all media it can control people and alter their perspective if you show them what fits your narrative , experience things for yourself, otherwise you're not really entitled to an opinion 😁 and anyone who pays 70 for a game is a fool and moronic if they pay 100 , shop around I got outlaws for 54 , for the amount of content and absolute joy it's given me , absolute bargain.
Ill pick it up at Christmas time to play, by then im sure the game will blow me away. Only games worth getting day 1 or early is Rockstar or Playstation Studios. These AAA multi-plat games have had bad launches for over 10 years. They dont live up to the hype day 1. Ive been playing Astro Bot, i agree with Mark Cerny. Now this is a game
@BowsersBuddy I agree for that minimap though 🤌🏻
Been playing for a few hours. I would give it a 6, but I like Star Wars so I will give it a 7.
If it wasnt Star Wars, I would possibly never had tried this game in the 1st place. I would just had play something on my backlog (or Fortnite, or Fall Guys) instead.
@Shalooda Hehe ye, guess i was just unlucky. Or i didnt get the copium version.
Lets just agree to disagree i guess, glad youre enjoying the game. Im just not.
I was going to give it an 8 but I’ve just lost 2 hours of completing side content because the game doesn’t auto save at all between missions and the manual save option is always greyed out. Fuming. I was enjoying it until then. I’m so mad rn.
Edit: and now the bloody game is broken because the slicer doesn’t disable energy fields. Seriously F this game.
@Shalooda Fair points you make, absolutely, but let's address each one in turn (that I have played). MGS, the box: you know that's a joke, it's obvious it's so unrealistic, while Outlaws doesn't attempt that humour. RDR, I haven't played and that sounds stupid if there is no AI reaction, worthy of a minus 0.5 or 1 point in its review. GTA, again, it's a deliberate joke, a parody of life so again, not a suitable comparison. Anyway, bugs/glitches present in a AAA game on release that are so obvious or poor should deserve minus points. They invested millions in this, not thousands. It's 2024, not 2004 when bugs were almost unavoidable at that blatant level. Why charge 70 £€$ for an unfinished product? Review copies of games should be seen as the final product, so to speak, not an off-Beta not quite there yet product. I got burned with Homeworld 3 on release, shoddy work. I don't accept this anymore as I would 10 or 20 years back.
@Shalooda Hmmm, you have convinced me to try it again. I'll try to keep an even more open mind.
Still making my mind up, it certainly has it's moments but then those moments get ruined when suddenly falling through the floor, which has only happened to me once so far, but still lost some progress. The graphics and general atmosphere are pretty good whilst being a bit patchy in some places, the stealth is pretty basic but then very few games do stealth decently (I miss splinter cell). If I had to give it a score so far, probably looking at a 7 at most, could use some polish. Having more fun with Alien Isolation at the moment if I'm honest and will probably come back to outlaws once I finish that again first, by then I imagine a few bug fixes will have solved a few gripes. Granted, I enjoy Star Wars, but mostly the original trilogy, not a hardcore fan or anything. I'd imagine if you were a big star wars fan, this game would be an 8.5 for you. What I would kill for would be another Rogue Squadron! That game single handedly tricked me into buying a GameCube back in the day alongside REmake.
@Shalooda
According to somet reports Ubisoft/Massive Entertainment will patch the stealth difficulty.

Take note Game Science?
6=meh
Too much stealth for my liking. I’m an all in guns blazing type of outlaw and subtlety is not a strength of mine. Also, why is Kay Vess so blurry compared to the rest of the world? I hope the “next 10 days” patch fixes the whole stealth debacle. Knocking out stormtroopers with my bare fist and leaving them there for their buddy to walk by and not raise the alarm is comical. I hope Ubisoft looks at how Cyberpunk 2077 was fixed over time and does the same for SWO because this game was clearly rushed out and needs a lot of changes/updates to make this a truly AAA game.
Review score of: Didn't buy it. 😆
@torquex cool for people who are crap at stealth I guess
@Kameleonic I couldve chosen other games to prove my point , pretty much any game which relies on basic ai , games are sorely lacking in that department , I wish they would use the extra power for that rather than fancy shadows and reflections to be honest, players take advantage of an npcs shortcomings ,when it comes to Intelligence, using red dead an example again , you can approach a non aggressive area with a camp attack kill a few and run away , return 5 minutes later and there's no reaction , I'd love it if they'd remember, maybe some dialogue thrown in, and they try to kill you on sight.
@species fair enough, if it wasn't star wars I'd probably give it a 6 if it makes you feel any better 😂
I wouldn’t say it’s average, certainly below that in so many ways. I would define it as “scrappy.”
Interesting concept, poorly implemented.
🙁
@Shalooda That's a good example of why RDR should have a minus in its score. I get the feeling that developers may be using humour or parodies of life to excuse their lack of skill in making better AI reactions, or simply cutting corners on the same. That RDR example is a good example of poor work: they could easily code the AI to react aggressively for a much longer period. Outlaws though... The AI seems literally stupid in the videos I have watched, showing very poor work. Is it meant to be a joke? I strongly doubt it. Forgiving? That's unlikely as examples given show contradictory behaviour, such as ignoring bodies, or alerting the entire area once you've been spotted. Come on, they rushed the game out, and I object to forgiving a high cost game like this. Coupled with the other Ubisoft pirate game recently, they seem to be cutting corners while charging high prices. I wouldn't review score above a 7 for that reason alone, they need to be warned or punished for laziness or greed.
@AhmadSumadi I'm still on the fence on SW: Outlaws. I haven experienced it yet, but I absolutely LOVE The Division series and am anxiously awaiting The Division 3!!! If I may ask, how does this compare to those titles in terms of action and cover situations?
@Shalooda
Love me some stealth and now the devs will downgrade it? I don't know why during game development they can't think of difficulty settings? i'm trying to avoid gameplay videos so as not to spoil it for myself when i buy the game.
These modern day padawans lack the patience for stealth.
I urge Star Wars fans to consider this game without the franchise attached to it: does it still hold up? Would you rate this an 8 without your favourite locations and sounds and characters?
Not that it matters, I just don´t want people to blindly praise something without understanding why they like it
@WiccanMagick75 as an avid fan of The Division I’ll say that Outlaws doesn’t compare to it in neither action nor cover. See, Division is purely a cover shooter. Full on action. Outlaws is very stealthy and the point it often to avoid action. No real “cover” system but instead it’s a “hide” system.
In Division, you’ll crouch into cover and “snap to” the object you’re using for cover. Outlaws, you crouch behind cover but are still freely moving about. No “snap to” like Division. They’re in 2 different genres to be honest.
@torquex there is a myriad of difficulty settings one of which is stealth , I really don't know what the fuss is about, its not that hard, granted its harder than mgs , assassin's creed etc, the only thing it reminds me of really with regards to difficulty is hitman , where as its as hard as you want it to be, and I don't mean mechanics before I get jumped on 😂
@Deljo the sabacc in this game is so much fun. And I love the little detail that she shows nix her hand every now and again!
@Kameleonic honestly I've never had an enemy ignore a dead body , they discover ,and than anyone in the vicinity goes on alert , until a set amount of time has lapsed which is pretty much standard for most games of this type, I think most people have a problem with the instafail stealth missions , but these can be avoided with a bit if planning , the imperial bases are the most difficult as there are plenty of stormtroopers, officers (they have coms with which they sound the alarm and call backup, you can steal there coms with nix though) also cameras, seems to me the problems are bug related , I have a consistent one where when you summon your speeder, it zooms around you at high speed and doesn't stop until you press summon again, it's kind of funny.
@Shalooda Well, I guess I'll have to Ubisoft+ it, and see for myself;)
@AhmadSumadi Thank You for the reply. I haven't watched anything about SWO, so I'll be going in blind, save for your info. Thanks again
@Shalooda
That speeder is like an untamed horse...so reckless and random.
@MikeOrator 😂 it is exactly that
@Shalooda I just joined this site as of today to post this cuz i don't really like commenting on sites but for some reason i feel the need to defend this star wars game cuz its was just so fun to play, I've also been gaming for 38 years and have played every single major release and I agree with you this game is banging. Just finished it this weekend had a blast, I feel the negative reviews are coming from reviewers rushing the game and not taking the time to chill and walk around.. you have to play this game kind of like Red Dead Redemption 2, Slow.
@Yagami Dude I personally hate Star Wars ever since Return of the Jedi, ewokes hitting Strom Troopers over the head with rocks is so dumb and its always kind of turned me off. but honestly this game is really fun and worth my time and money. My suggestion turn up the difficulty, use all the steal tools given and play it slow, like red dead 2. It seriously is a fun game.
@Oprahs_cellulite it seems the longer you play the better it gets , the side quests are great as are the rewards
It's a solid 9 for me. 29 hours in and thoroughly enjoying the story and side missions. The characters are great and the worlds are well made with large areas to explore. Fun stealth and enjoyable gun play. Can't really complain with any of the game so far
It just goes to show that it's all very subjective in the end. The best way to know is to try before you buy but that's not always an option for console gamers, some developers/publishers make a demo or a trial version but some don't and you then run the risk of wasted cash especially for digital purchase, at least with the disc version you can trade it in and recover some of the loss. Sony should do a 2 hour trial and refunds if you not satisfied, if not then developers/publishers should allow a trial version and for every game. But yeah some of us know what the score is sony mate.
