After 142 hours I'm thinking about quitting Baldur's Gate 3, the game is dragging a bit and some of the fights in Act 3 are a bit gimmicky. I might revisit the game at a later date.
Also thinking of stopping Star Wars Outlaws, it's getting a bit repetitive.
Think I might go back to playing Balatro and continue on with Astro Bot.
I have dropped a few games, both recently and not so recently;
Banjo-Tooie (Xbox) - I had already beat this but that was almost two years ago, but I chose to try a new save file for it because PX’s game club chose it as one of September’s games, butttttt I’m actually the one who requested the game and it got enough votes from everyone else. I don’t know, I actually don’t feel like I’m in the mood to actually replay it despite loving the Banjo games (especially the N64 ones) a lot. It has to do with how I’m remembering how frustrating the game is with its high difficulty level and how much more infuriating it is than the previous game. I think a remake for the game would be desired to iron out a lot of the issues, but I know that ain’t happening. I’d not say I gave up on it completely, only just gave up on it for now because I don’t feel like it at the moment. I might go back to playing it if I have the courage to since there is still time to play it this month.
DJMax Respect V (Xbox) - I am super into playing rhythm games on the phone, so when I was on Game Pass a year ago, I chose to try out DJMax since it was also a rhythm game and one of the few rhythm games Game Pass had at the time, plus it had some songs that I loved and recognized. Only played for 19 or so minutes and never actually finished a song track without messing up and failing and I just completely gave up on it and uninstalled. The game isn’t bad, it’s probably fun, but I gave up on it since I can’t get used to playing rhythm games with controllers and button inputs and not by simply using my fingers. It’s more on me than the game.
Conker’s Pocket Tales - This is probably the quickest game I gave up on. I gave up playing it the same day I started it. It’s a GameBoy Color game, but I had to emulate because the game is out-of-print and I don’t own a GameBoy Color thanks to the price tags sellers slap on those things. I’m pretty sure I only played this game solely because it was related to Conker. I started it around 1-2 weeks after I finished my second play through of Conker’s Bad Fur Day and thought “why don’t I give its previous kid-friendly entry a try despite how much no one remembers it?” and I had the intention to finish the game in August, but I hated what I played in Pocket Tales. Game is just way too confusing and the controls on the emulator I used were pretty awful and didn’t translate well so I couldn’t use an attack that used conkers against enemies and it resulted in me repeatedly dying and being sent back to Conker’s house, I’m assuming because the game does not have any sort of save state or checkpoint I can go back to when I die so I can save progress. Deleted the emulator with the game on it when I realized Pocket Tales wasn’t up my alley at all.
As I sat down to finally spend some quality time with my PS5 after some time away for the last couple weeks and I think I might let go of Child of Light. I couldn’t bring myself to go back and continue (I’m about 3-4 hrs along) and preferred doing a few hours of Dark Souls 2 farming last night instead. The game is charming and scratches a turn based rpg itch, but there’s too many other compelling games. I might go back at some point.
But thanks to @Yousef- and the Game Club for exposing me to the game. I can definitely see the appeal.
Similarly, but for a different reason, I’ve had to give up on Marvel’s Midnight Suns. I was gradually progressing off and on, but they yanked it from PS+ Extra and I probably will just let it lie unfinished, even though I can pick up a physical copy for really cheap right now. It’s a bit too long and drawn out and so add one more to my list of unfinished business. I got my enjoyment from my time with it though.
I’m absolutely finishing DS2 however. Even after 80 hours it still satisfies.
@Th3solutionDark Souls farming can be such a meditative experience… I once spent about three days straight farming Silver Knights on Dark Souls 3 for Proof of Concords Kept. Good times.
@Th3solution no worries there friend 😁 it’s not a game that’s necessarily super must play. I always thought it was game that for undeservingly buried in the sands of time, despite so many unique ideas that deserve to get discussed. What you did for the game was more than I’d ask for and I’m really glad you and many others gave it fair shake and posted your impressions of it, good enough I’d say 😄
Won’t lie, never heard of marvel midnight suns, that sounds more like a cafe than a game xD
@colonelkilgore@Yousef- Absolutely (regarding the Dark Souls farming), I’m at the Shrine of Amana now and the water creatures drop Effigies and Smooth and Silkies, and the white sorcerer dudes drop effin’ Twinkling Titanite! So I’m wishing I would have gotten here sooner! I can 1-2 shot both types of enemies with my current loadout and so it’s a piece of cake to make a run from the first bonfire to the second. I yield 1-2 Human Effigies and usually 1 Twinkling Titanite (as well as about 10K Souls) with each run. 😄
But yeah — Yousef, Midnight Suns is actually a really good card deck builder / with social sim and relationship building in the Marvel Universe. It’s a good game, but the pacing is a little slow and the Marvel fatigue we all have is not doing it any favors either. I’m having trouble tolerating some of the characters at this point.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Th3solution Turns out From Software are a flithy lot.
But to be fair to them, @Ravix i think all the talk of fingers and all that shizz in the game was down to G R R Martin. That, and all the bleedin names sounding so similar to each other.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
