Well, we might not have gotten El Paso Elsewhere last Friday… but it looks like we’re getting what I can only assume to be the sequel on 27th - El Paso Everywhere 🤣:
Officially 9/27 where I'm at and don't see it yet on PS Store, despite seeing other new games show up after midnight.
Good news is unlike other times I checked past midnight, retailers still have 9/27 listed with no date change for the physical copy. May be dropping midnight PST or in the morning/mid-day.
Another week, another day where the game doesn’t release. The developers responded on X once again saying they will release it, and as soon as there is an update they will inform everyone. Ugh.
One complaint I have thus far is enemies being fantasy melee enemies and not people shooting at you. Makes the beginning too easy and a slog cuz they take so many bullets and since I turned on the scarce ammo setting to make it harder, I have to be conservative and avoid fights.
One thing I like so far is how it’s a 3D indie which is an under explored market.
This emulates max Payne gameplay down to minute details like ammo pickup Feedback and camera angle.
There’s even three buttons for a dodge just like max Payne, maintaining the complex control lay out.
Not just that, there’s homages to other same lake games like control.
I just ordered this physical from Amazon. The funny thing is, I wouldn’t have actually bought it straight away digitally… would’ve just added it to the wishlist for a sale but my curiosity is such with this, following its continued absence from the store that I had to order it just to see if it actually turns up. It’ll be with me tomorrow… apparently.
@Yousef- I’m not entirely sure it’ll even turn up tbh bud… I have a strange feeling that amazon added it due to the game supposedly being released on ps5 first on 20th, then again on the 27th but without it actually being available. You guys will be the first to know either way though… might even post some updates on when/if it’s out for dispatch etc 😉
@colonelkilgore well, I hope you have fun with the difficulty modifiers once you play it. They’re fun to mess around with.
The similarities to max Payne are truly alluring.
Low pony cutscenes is also a nice touch.
@Yousef- It’s showing “announced” for me, so I’m assuming it will be ready for purchase tomorrow! I’m glad it’s finally getting released. How are you liking it?
@Kraven so far so awesome. The difficulty modifiers are a great touch. I’ve played around with them and turned up ones I felt I understood like enemy speed and damage. Since o other modifiers would require a full playthrough to grasp the scope of their changes, I’ve only made enemies faster and do more damage to keep challenge authentic to max Payne. I turned down camera sensitivity and volume a bit cuz both felt they weren’t made with consoles in mind and so far it’s been an incredibly smooth experience gameplay wise. Story discussion, I’ll leave for later but I definitely have things to say there as well. Cutscenes have some nice shot composition which feels like a lost art these days. It’s a shame you have to rely on indie devs to preserve things that used to be mainstream and deservingly so. All in all fun game so far 👍 will keep everyone posted
